Feature Reference
Everything your dashboard does not explain.
Observant Drive is an Android vehicle health companion for wireless Bluetooth OBD2 data, GPS context, learned baselines, and plain-English observations. It does not just show numbers. It watches how your vehicle behaves over time.
Join Early AccessAmbient Vehicle Intelligence
Most dashboards report isolated values. Observant Drive groups related signals into behavior: air, fuel, cooling, and battery. The goal is simple: help drivers notice meaningful patterns, system drift, and early changes before they become expensive surprises.
Wireless Bluetooth OBD2
Connect with supported Bluetooth OBD2 adapters to view live vehicle telemetry, including RPM, speed, coolant temperature, voltage, fuel trims, airflow, throttle, load, boost or vacuum, GPS, and diagnostic information where available.
Multi-Vehicle Profiles
Manage a household, garage, or small fleet. Observant Drive supports custom vehicle profiles so settings, baselines, and preferences can follow the right vehicle whether you swap one dongle between rides or keep different adapters in different cars.
Automatic Connection
Open the app and Observant Drive can attempt to reconnect to your saved Bluetooth OBD2 adapter automatically. Quick reconnects stay quiet; longer interruptions can be surfaced when they matter.
Stream Continuity
Cheap dongles and real-world Bluetooth links can drop, stall, or repeat stale ECU data. Observant Drive watches live stream freshness so the instrument knows when data is current, paused, or recovering.
Health Motifs
Battery Startup Signature
Every startup tells a story. Observant Drive watches resting voltage → crank dip → crank duration → charging rebound, then compares new starts against previous behavior to help reveal electrical drift over time.
- Resting voltage awareness
- Crank dip detection
- Crank duration context
- Charging and alternator rebound
- Previous-start comparison
Thermostat Regulation
Coolant temperature is not just a number. Observant Drive watches warm-up, thermostat opening, operating range, fan recovery, airflow recovery, and learned regulation behavior.
- Warm-up tracking
- Thermostat opening observation
- Healthy operating temperature context
- Fan and low-speed recovery
- Baseline comparison after regulation is learned
Fuel Trim Intelligence
Fuel trims are the ECU's live corrections. Observant Drive watches short-term fuel trim, long-term fuel trim, and total trim across idle, cruise, load, and boost so corrections can be understood in context instead of as isolated numbers.
- STFT, LTFT, and total trim
- Idle, cruise, load, and boost context
- Sustained correction detection
- Plain-English fuel observations
- Useful context for vacuum leaks, MAF drift, fuel delivery, and adaptation patterns
Airflow & Engine Demand
Air is more than a MAF number. Observant Drive monitors airflow, throttle, engine load, boost or vacuum, and demand changes to help separate normal response from suspicious behavior.
- Mass airflow behavior
- Throttle and load tracking
- Boost/vacuum awareness
- Airflow consistency observations
- Cross-context with fuel correction behavior
Graphing & Drift Awareness
Observant Drive graphs are designed for behavior, not decoration. The app can compare live movement against recent and idealized patterns so subsystem coherence and drift are easier to see while driving.
Ideal / Live / Lately
Graph modes help compare what is happening now, what has been happening lately, and what a healthy or learned pattern should look like. Ideal + Lately views can make slow drift easier to notice without live jitter.
Auto-Focus Graph
Graph behavior can emphasize useful movement instead of forcing the driver to constantly rescale or interpret noisy values. The goal is readable telemetry with less cognitive load.
Constellation Views
CRT, Health Ops, and Garage Memory skins present the same vehicle from different angles: live instrument, health operations, and learned baseline memory.
Max / Min Awareness
Capture useful peaks, lows, and operating ranges so a drive can be understood after the moment has passed.
Diagnostics & Memory
DTC Scan Support
Read diagnostic trouble codes when an OBD2 connection is available. Observant Drive can help frame a code search with vehicle context such as year, make, model, and DTC so the driver can use web and Google AI results without the app pretending to replace the wider diagnostic internet.
DTC Lifelog
Codes matter even after they are cleared from the vehicle. Observant Drive can preserve diagnostic events in the app history so you can search, review, and remember what happened later.
Semantic Event Log
The event log is designed to capture meaning, not spam. It records milestones, sustained changes, system states, and observations in plain English.
Garage Memory
Learned baselines help compare today's behavior against your own vehicle's history, not only generic thresholds. The more a vehicle is observed, the more useful its normal behavior becomes.
Driver Experience
Quiet When Healthy
A healthy car should not need constant attention. Observant Drive is built to protect your cognitive budget while driving and speak up when an observation is useful.
Voice Awareness
Configurable voice modes can surface important observations while driving, including screen-off awareness for key events and quieter behavior when systems are stable.
Persistent Setup
Vehicle profile, Bluetooth dongle, graph settings, skin, units, media bar, MPH display, voice level, sensitivity, color preferences, and other settings can persist across sessions.
Customization
Choose visual skins, voice behavior, unit preferences, media display, graph behavior, and vehicle-specific setup so the app fits the way you actually drive.
